On February 28, 1999, a small launch team greeted 333 guests at Brock Road Elementary School in Spotsylvania County, Virginia for the first Celebration Service of Wilderness Community Church. God had imparted to us His vision for a church which would have as its focus reaching people for Jesus Christ and helping them become His fully devoted followers.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God gathering people of many types who are free to come as they are to experience love, acceptance, meaningful relationships, significance, purpose, hope, forgiveness, guidance, encouragement, help and healing in a Biblically-based community.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God raising up a community committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and His amazing love in a contemporary and relevant way with the thousands of residents of Spotsylvania and Orange Counties, the City of Fredericksburg and beyond.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God welcoming 2,000 members into our church family the family of God loving Him and each other, learning together, laughing together, and living in harmony together.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God enabling each member to grow toward spiritual maturity through commitment, small groups, seminars, retreats and other opportunities to discover God's perspective on the issues facing us.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God equipping every member for significant ministry by helping them discover their God-given spiritual gifts, passion, abilities, personality and experiences for making a difference in the world in which we live.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God sending out hundreds of people to be His representatives in the world, transforming their homes, communities, schools and workplaces, state, nation and the world with the love of God as expressed in the person of Jesus Christ. We see God empowering each member to reproduce the new life we have experienced in the lives of others to whom He sends us. We see God reproducing what we experience at Wilderness Community Church through us in other Christian communities as we participate in the sending of career missionaries and church workers from our midst and as we participate in the planting of new churches.

At Wilderness Community Church, we see God building a regional church with facilities which will include a worship center seating more than a thousand people, classrooms for studies which will help us mature as followers of Jesus Christ, a prayer center, a ministry center for the training of lay ministers to be sent forth into our community, and a recreation area; all designed to minister to the total person in a setting which glorifies God.
